Jorge Exposito Miami Beach Commission Candidate Put Words In Fellow Candidates Mouth In Attempt To Mislead Voters And Show He’s A Racist?

Miami Beach – CityDebate.Com – November 1, 2009 - Miami Beach politics get ugly as Beach candidate Jorge Exposito attempts to deceive voters in to believing his opponent Sherry Roberts has sent out a HIT piece on fellow candidate Maria Mayer.

     City Debate has discovered that in fact the inflammatory mailing was sent out by his “campaign consultant” David Custin. The mailing shows that it was sent by “Tell the Public the Facts, Inc” a front organization for David Custin (click here).

      Jorge Exposito and David Custin also have proven that they are both “racists”. Nowhere in any of the candidate fillings has Maria Mayer used her middle name. Never the less both of these “racists” continue to pound on her middle name “Chang” in hopes that voters would take a dislike to her because of her name. One would have to dig deep into the sewers of Miami Beach to find anyone lower than these two.

A Letter Sent To Jorge Exposito by Frank Del Vecchio

     GEORGE:  I have seen a copy of the flyer in mailboxes today attacking Maria Mayer, designed to create the impression that Sherry Roberts is behind it.

     The ad was "Sponsored by Tell the Public the Facts, Inc., 8835 SW 107th Ave., #135, Miami, FL 33176", which was incorporated July 13, 2006 by Robert Novoa, listing that address.  [Document No. P06000093139].

     David Custin, your campaign consultant, lists "Tell the Public the Facts, Inc. ECO" as a client in Luis Garcia's 2006 election campaign.  That coincides with the July 13, 2006 corporate filing by that entity.

      Attached is Sherry Roberts' letter to voters charging that Tell the Public the Facts, Inc. is "associated with Jorge Exposito".  Also attached is an excerpt from Mr. Custin's web site showing his connection with that entity.

     Please explain your campaign's connection with Tell the Public the Facts, Inc.

ECO (FL House, 107) – Voter file analysis and targeting; General strategy and planning; direct mail and phone bank issue-advocacy services to benefit Luis Garcia, who narrowly won election and became the first Democrat to take this seat which had been held by Republicans for fourteen years.

Sherry Roberts letter:

Dear Miami Beach Voters

      I was appalled upon learning of a direct mail piece sent this afternoon to you the voters of Miami Beach. The political mailer attacks Maria Mayer and attempts to portray me, Sherry Roberts, in a positive way. You might be asking yourself why if I was portrayed in a positive manner would I be so upset with the political mailer.

Here’s why:

     The group, Tell The Public The Facts, Inc., that paid for and sent the political attack is associated with Jorge Exposito another candidate in the race for city commissioner. The shadowy front group is attempting to pit the two female candidates against each other in the campaign for Group II City Commissioner. Moreover, Jorge Exposito and his cohorts are trying to make it appear as though I am somehow responsible for the attack.

     Jorge Exposito has hired a lobbyist/political consultant to run his campaign. The same consultant lists on his website that Tell The Public The Facts, Inc. is one of the outside organizations that he uses to attack candidates.

     The evidence is shockingly clear and Jorge Exposito must stop these political tricks at once. Mr. Exposito I am asking you to take responsibility for these attacks and stop them now!

     Furthermore, I am calling on the good people who have donated money or endorsed Mr. Exposito to demand from him that he stop this kind of underhanded and destructive behavior.

     We must expect more from our candidates and our elected officials. If we let our candidates for elected office behave in a reckless manner how can we expect them to act any better once elected to office. The time to stop these tricks is now.
