Miami Beach – CityDebate.Com – November 1, 2009 - There is a new wallet-size U.S. Passport Card that can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry.
It is more convenient and less expensive than a passport book.
The US Passport Card works the same as the US Passport Book: 10 years for an adult and 5 years for minors under age 16. The card costs $45 for a first-time adult passport applicant and $35 for all minor applicants under age 16, regardless of whether they are previous passport. Adults who already have a valid
passport book may apply for the card as a passport renewal by mail for just $20.
The US Passport Card cannot be used for international air travel.
