Miami Beach North End Police Capture Three Juvenile "Purple City Gangsters" Members for Occupied Burglary

Miami Beach – CityDebate.Com – December 8, 2009 - Three juveniles arrested and charged with Occupied Burglary. (Names/photos not released, as they are juveniles). At approximately 1604 hours, Patrol Units responded to 720 78th St. in reference to an Occupied Burglary that had just occurred. Undercover Crime Suppression Team (CST) Units responded to assist patrol units. Upon speaking with the victim, he stated that he is new to the area and befriended a couple of local juveniles by the names of "Cory" and "Ray" from the neighborhood. He went on to state that the two juveniles were invited guests to his apartment yesterday, and they left after having a good time. Today, the Victim was in the middle of a mid afternoon nap, when he was awoken suddenly by the sound of movement in his apartment. He looked up and saw "Cory" and "Ray" and a third unknown Suspect, rummaging through his room. He screamed at the juveniles to "Stop" at which point "Ray" reached into the victim's nightstand, took his IPod Touch (Valued at $400.00) and wallet, and ran out of the apartment. Upon running after the subjects, the victim noticed that the subjects gained entry by removing the jalousie windows off his front door. Crime Scene responded to process the scene.

     CST Units have been dealing with several "Purple City Gangster" Gang Members who matched the description of "Ray" and "Cory" for the past year and are well-known burglary subjects. As we canvassed the Hawthorne/Crespi area, Motor Officer Campos located a Subject matching the description of the third subject at 401 71st Street, who was positively identified. Approximately two hours later, CST Detectives located “Ray” and “Cory” walking together in the 7900 Blk of Crespi. Both suspects were positively identified and transported to MBPD to be interviewed by Det. Sierra. During the course of the interview with Detective Sierra, “Ray” confessed to the burglary and further explained that the IPod Touch was in the third subject’s apartment. CST Units responded to the apartment and retrieved the stolen property. Case is CLOSED BY ARREST.

     Note:  These three juveniles have serious arrest records and are documented gang members. Their ages range from 14-16 years of age. If you see a juvenile in your neighborhood during school hours, and they look like they belong in school, call Police immediately. Most burglaries are committed during business/school hours. We will stop and interview juveniles skipping from school and up to no good and take necessary action. Together, we can prevent burglaries by being vigilant.
